The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle Overview

The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes is an interesting novel written by Arthur Conan Doyle. The Memoirs of Sherlock Holmes is a collection of short stories that was originally published in late 1893 with a publication date of 1894. Further, it was the second collection to feature Sherlock Holmes, the consulting detective. Another series of Sherlock Holmes adventures as told by his faithful chronicler Dr. Watson. However, it is obvious than ever that the real appeal of these stories is the fascinating character of Holmes himself. The mysteries are secondary to the fun, though many of them do have distinct components of fascination.
The reader is truly involved in them by watching the interesting character of Holmes himself. Indeed, this collection gives the reader a rare treat in that we discover more about the detective, his formative years, and his relationships than what has previously seemed to be the case. As a result, some of the most intriguing pieces in this collection were those that harkened back to Holmes’ adolescence and showed us the guy he was, as well as the roots of the man he would become. However, Watson’s last understanding as to what has happened to his companion is touching, as is Holmes’ typically dry (but heartfelt) letter to him on the ledge of Reichenbach Falls.

All in all, aside from being entertaining, the Sherlock Holmes short stories are generally action-packed. Sure, there are a few misses, but for the most part, they’re quite great. Moreover, they’re entertaining, mysterious (for the most part), have a wonderful main character in Sherlock Holmes, and are told in an interesting fashion by Holmes’ sidekick, Watson. Additionally, they’re incredibly atmospheric, taking place largely in London and its environs in the late 1800s. Finally, the majority of these stories are good to quite excellent, with some somewhat better than others.
